ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT Marine Science has been part of the
academic curriculum at the The curriculum is designed to take full advantage of the University's coastal location, with ready access to a variety of marine environments twelve months of the year. Students are introduced to the general complexities of the marine environment through lectures, laboratories and field trips. The majority of the undergraduate marine science courses are taught by members of our graduate faculty from RSMAS. Undergraduate students are encouraged to work with the faculty in their laboratories, and are able to earn course credit by conducting independent research under the supervision of leading scientists in their field. |

Entrance Requirements It is recommended that a student's high school curriculum include at least three years of English and mathematics, and one year each of biology, chemistry and physics. Freshman applicants must have a SAT score of 1250, be in the top 25% of their graduating class, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.2. Transfer applicants must have earned at least twelve (12) academic credits, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
